In Name Only: "Virgins" by Danielle Evans
In her short story “Virgins,” Danielle Evans follows the lives of two 14-year-old girls as they attempt to define, accept, and take...
Outside of her focus on music, theatre, and performance, Hannah is spending some of her time at U of M pursuing her passion for the written word, earning a minor in writing through the Sweetland Center for Writing. About her interest in writing, Hannah says:
"One of the many reasons I chose to focus on vocal rather than instrumental music reflects my love of words: singers are singularly able to add text to their art, finding another dimension of meaning. Despite the fact that the end goal of musical study is almost entirely aural, not written, I cannot divorce my experience of music from the text. For me, singing is a mostly poetic art form, with greater opportunities for text expression given through musical elements. In my life, the arts of music and writing are not so different."
Included here are some of Hannah's most recent and proudest pieces of writing, most writtten for her Freshman Writing course at U of M.
